My 1963 Ford Falcon Project
The first of two full Falcon restorations is based off a 6 cylinder manual transmission
model. Good paint and body panels with a fair but weathered interior offset the
worn out suspension and poor brake system. The result of months of work is this
beautiful 350 hp machine street machine detailed below.
A new 302 Small Block (NA with a Holly carb) and an estimated 350 hp was mated to
a C4 transmission and installed into the stripped, sanded and repainted engine bay.
The custom front end with disc brakes sourced from a Granada and converted to use
65 Shelby quick-steer linkage get the power pointed in the right direction.
After refinishing the entire undercarriage of the car, the exhaust was fabricated
with offset design to allow access to full drivetrain for maintenance. The Delta
40 series mufflers provide a quite yet aggressive sound void of resonation. The
rear suspension will includes new leaf springs, a Ford 8" rear with a 350 posi diff
and 69 Mustang drum brakes.
All interior pieces were removed, inspected and refinished where necessary. Insulated
floor and firewall for heat and sound dampening. Hurst automatic non-ratcheting
floor shifter installed. The stock deluxe interior was upgraded with a '59 Ford
Thunderbird center console which houses a multi-functional tachometer, temp, volt,
oil gauge.
Instrument cluster has been reconditioned and improved with a quick disconnecting
wiring harness hand made to relocated and upgrade fuse block. Note the blue LED
above the choke serving as a high beam indicator after repurposing the original
to provide both left and right turn signal indicators as the original design featured
only one.
